Michayl Lox is a music artist from America in his own lane taking his time to work on his talent and become the best, he knows what he wants and he knows how to get there. He’s got hard sounding music with a nice flow and real lyrics about his life, not made up stuff that he might thinks people wants to hear, just to gain a few fans which makes him one of the realest and that’s what the industry needs. Michayl Lox is for sure the definition of real hip hop and it won’t be long before the world knows!
So checkout what makes him standout what he can bring to the industry and what he wants people to take away from his music!
Where are you from?
I was born and raised in the East End of Maysville, Kentucky right on the river edge of the ohio rvier valley.
Can you tell us a bit about your music and they style you make?
I’ve been doing music longer than I can remember. I used to walk around everywhere with one of those colourful portable tape recorders with a microphone. When it comes to style I would say mine is versatile because I am able to conform to any beat or topic. Most say I sound like Snoop Lion with a southern swag of T.I and image of a male version Lauren Hill. But just like I tell everyone, listen and judge for yourself!
How do you standout from others?
I try to stay away from what the crowd is doing and innovate my own perception and style into the forefront. I don’t want to just be another grain in the sand, I am different so I bring different with my image, personality, voice, and music altogether.
What can you bring to the industry?
A breath of fresh air! Everyone wants to be on the band wagon if what is selling and not taking the time to elevate their craft with creativity to be a industry leader. The problem with the major labels now is that they want to get a quick lick off on an artist’s singles for royalties. They fail to invest in artist development and there is no filter on who gets a major deal anymore.
Could you tell us about your mixtape Growin Painz?
“Growin’ Painz” was a mixtape I released in summer 17 and I did not expect the feedback to be as great as it was! I only released it for local fans in hard copies only and I ended up financing my NYC trip for my son’s Zephiniayh’s birth! It took me around 9 months to complete it and I wanted to give the fans a glimpse in my head from the last time I released a project in 2010 til now. I feel like i went through a great spiritual and healing growth process, hence the name “Growin’ Painz.”
What do you want people to take away from your music?
I want people to see how I see the world and life. I feel there are too many songs that put negative frequencies into the air and I want to balance that out with positive. I want to tell a story, my story; listen.
If you could change one thing within the music industry what would it be and why?
I would change the image and show a distinct difference between rap and hip hop. Rap tears down the self and our people’s communities on a daily basis and keeps us ina mental state of self destruction. I hate new school rappers who only rap about cars, clothes, bitches, sex, drugs, and money. Stop glorifying being a heroin and pill junky; that shit ain’t cool y’all.
What can we expect in the future?
have a showcase with Atlantic Records and Wu Tang Music head A&R DJ Absolut in NYC, so I expect this show to help open doors as far as gettin my name and music out. i don’t want a major deal, I just need leverage and I can do the rest myself with my own team. So expect to hear more from me and seeing my presence more in 2018!
